What is OUSA?

The Open University Students Association, OUSA, is run by students for students. OUSA has its own constitution and aims to offer OU students educational and welfare support by representing students’ views at OU meetings.

For those new to OUSA, when you sign up for a course with the OU, you are automatically a member of OUSA.  OUSA is an organisation run by voluntary students, just like you, with the aim of improving all aspects of student life for OU students, from pointing you in the right direction for information, to increasing the social life often lacking in distance learning, to representing student views to the University and the government.  Every student is allocated to a local Branch of OUSA which aims to help students meet others studying locally. It ensures local student voices and issues are heard by the rest of the Association and the University.

Your OUSA Branch is here to represent the views of all OU students in the Sheffield area. As an OU student you are a member of OUSA and, therefore a member of your local Branch and it is FREE. Branches represent OUSA at a local level, hold regular meetings and organise educational, social events and trips.
